Seeing things that go bump in the night

A very basic, DIY-ish night-vision camera equipped with 2 beefy IR LEDs recently landed on our doorstep and S. and I took a nighttime stroll to try it out. The short video below was taken with a phone camera aimed at the night-vision camera’s screen while the LEDs were switched on. In low light, the view afforded by the camera is excellent (much better than unaided human visual perception) without the LEDs. The LEDs do give off a slight, dull-red glow when powered-up, which may mean they’re 850nm rather than 940nm. The vendor didn’t specify and I haven’t yet asked or tried to determine which wavelength they are myself.

A short, shaky clip of the screen of an IR camera, with its IR LEDs switched on, aimed at some plants and random stuff in the vicinity.
